Parang La Pass Trek
The Parang La Trek spans across the Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh, as well as Tibet and Changthang in the Ladakh region. Renowned for its challenging nature, this trek demands prior experience and expertise from trekkers.

Trek Grade – By road
On the first day of the journey, the trekkers will begin their road trip, passing through the scenic Rohtang Pass and Kunzum La. The day will be spent acclimatizing to the high altitude, allowing their bodies to adjust to the mountain environment. At Kunzum La, trekkers can visit the revered Kunzum Mata Mandir, a spiritually significant site nestled amidst the Himalayas.
As the drive continues from Kunzum La to Kaza, they will be captivated by the breathtaking views of the Spiti River flowing alongside the route. Upon reaching Kaza, trekkers will be greeted by the sight of ancient monasteries and can take some time to explore the local market, experiencing the charm of Spiti culture.
Later, they will proceed to Manali, where a Trekup India representative will assist with their transfer to the hotel. The day will conclude with a comfortable overnight stay in Manali, preparing them for the exciting adventure ahead.

Trek Grade – By road
On the second day, trekkers will begin their morning with a warm and hearty breakfast, preparing themselves for the day ahead. This day is primarily meant for rest and acclimatization, allowing the body to adjust further to the altitude.
Trekkers can spend the day exploring Kaza, strolling along the tranquil Spiti River, and visiting the region’s ancient monasteries and gompas, which beautifully reflect the local culture and spirituality.
After exploring Kaza, the group will embark on a short drive to Chicham, a picturesque village known for its stunning views and peaceful atmosphere, where they will rest for the evening before continuing their adventure.

On the third day, trekkers will start their morning with a cup of hot tea, surrounded by breathtaking, picture-perfect views of the Himalayas. The day will be spent in Chicham, a village renowned for its suspension bridge — the highest in Asia — offering a thrilling sight and a glimpse into the region’s engineering marvel.
This day will primarily focus on acclimatization, helping trekkers prepare their bodies for the upcoming high-altitude trek. After exploring Chicham and enjoying the serene mountain surroundings, trekkers will return to their guest house or hotel in the evening to rest and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep before the journey continues.

This day marks the first day of their trek, and the trekkers will begin the day with hot tea. The trek from Chicham starts on a straight-led trail, and soon the trekkers will spot the Dumla campsite. Here, they will see a water stream flowing through the middle of agricultural fields. From Dumla, the trail begins ascending uphill with views of the Spiti Mountains and a zig-zag dirt trail, surrounded by the locally grown vegetation of Tampa.
As the trekkers reach Thalak, they will be enthralled by Kanamo Peak coming into view. The Thalak campsite offers a fantastic spot with Kanamo Peak in front and lush green meadows known as Thama Bush. Trekkers will rest for the night at the camp after a tiring day on the trail.

Trek Grade – Gradual to Moderate
The trekkers will begin their morning with a delicious breakfast and prepare for the day’s trek. Starting from the Thalak meadows, the trail leads through a rough path with deep gorges, loose gravel, and rocks. The trekkers will then descend downhill until they reach the riverbed of the gushing river, locally called Rong Nala.
From there, the trail ascends uphill to the Jukhta campsite, after which they will pass through the barren valley of Borochin. Upon reaching the Borochin campsite, they will find a small flowing stream nearby. Trekkers will spend the night here, sleeping under the picturesque landscape of mountains studded with stars.

Trek Grade – Moderate to Difficult
This day marks the primary day of the summit, where the trekkers will be climbing the highest point of the trek. The Trekup India Trek Leader will guide them and prepare them for the challenging day ahead. The trek begins through moraines, following a zig-zag trail until they reach Parang La. At the summit, trekkers will be spellbound by the view, which includes the Spiti and Changthang valleys and Parilungi Peak.
After enjoying the summit, they will begin their return trek toward Parang La Glacier. Here, they will walk past the glacier with a river flowing beneath, taking extra care while crossing sections with crevasses. Trekkers will then reach Lakku campsite, and after a few more hours, they will arrive at Kharsa Yongma campsite. They will spend the night here, listening to the soothing sounds of the river and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

This day marks the descent and return journey, beginning after breakfast. The trail will lead through the riverbed, crossing numerous streams along the way.
The route passes through Datang Yongma and Datang Kongma, both of which serve as campsites. Trekkers can admire the Tsoma Nala flowing alongside Datang Yongma, and further along, they will see Lasoma (or Takli La Nala) merging into Datang Nala after the Yongma campsite.
After continuing along the trail, they will finally reach the Kapapuche campsite, where they will rest for the night before continuing the return journey the following day.

Trek Grade – Gradual to Moderate
On this day, the trekker will continue along a trail similar to the previous day, but at a lower altitude. The trek follows the Pare River riverbed, offering views of multiple streams (Nalas) merging into the Pare Chu River and another flowing into Falangbado Nala.
After some walking, the trekker will reach the Phalum Phada campsite, where huge rock formations and small caves serve as reminders of traders who once sought shelter here. The trek then passes the Racholamo campsite, a confluence of two valleys, before crossing Lakuk Nala, a major tributary near Racholamo.
At the end of the day, trekkers can rest at the camp, enjoying the scenic mountain views. The next day, they will ascend toward the mountain peak, take in the breathtaking vistas, and eventually descend back, concluding the trek at the same campsite.

At the start of the day, the trekker will wake up to a healthy breakfast and hot tea, beginning the trail downstream along the Parechu River.
The trekker will then pass Norbu Sumdo, where the landscape transitions from the riverbed to lush green meadows. Along the trail, yellow flowers bloom, and wildlife such as Kiang (wild ass), black wolves, and marmots may be spotted. At the Chumik Shilde campsite, trekkers will be enthralled by the green meadows and flowing spring water. They will spend the night here, enjoying a restful sleep and ample rest after a day of trekking.

The trek will begin on flat land, passing through dense green meadows with views of the snow-covered Mentok peaks.
As they continue along the trail, trekkers will catch sight of Tso Moriri Lake, a pristine and serene body of water. Upon reaching the Kiangdom campsite, they may spot wild asses (Kiangs), after which the campsite is named. The lake also serves as a nesting ground for many migratory birds, adding to the region’s natural charm. After a full day of trekking, trekkers will likely sleep early, resting for the next day’s journey.

This day marks the last day of the trek, and trekkers will enjoy the scenic mountain views one final time. The trek begins along the side of Tso Moriri Lake, offering beautiful sights of Chamsher Kangri Peak and Lungser Kangri Peak. Trekkers will also witness the changing colors of the lake depending on the time of day.
The trail toward Karzok village is uphill and takes a few hours to reach the campsite. Karzok village perfectly exemplifies solitude, with only a few houses and homestays scattered across the landscape.

On the final day of the journey, trekkers will drive through the mountains one last time, soaking in the serenity of the hills. A Trekup India representative will assist them with the transfer from Karzok to Leh.
Upon reaching Leh, the team will bid farewell, after which trekkers can either explore Leh and its nearby attractions or begin their journey home.
