Itinerary
Here is the detailed Itinerary for Yunam Peak Trek
On Day 1, you will arrive in Manali and spend the day immersed in its stunning beauty, enjoying delicious meals and hot beverages. You can also explore some of the local attractions at your leisure.
This day is also reserved for completing all necessary paperwork. You will meet the Mountains Heights team, who will provide a detailed briefing about the Yunam Peak Expedition. Additionally, all required permits for transportation and trekking will be arranged and collected by our team, ensuring a smooth start to your adventure.
Altitude gain: 2050 meters to 3,800 meters.
Drive: Manali to Patseo
Distance: 115 kilometers.
Duration: 4 to 5 hours.
The trekking journey begins early in the morning around 9 AM with an exciting drive along the Leh-Manali Highway. Along the way, you will discover some hidden gems, including snow-capped mountains, vast green landscapes, and meandering rivers that are truly mesmerizing.
We will pass through Tandi, the confluence of the Bhaga and Chandra rivers, and then proceed to Sissu village, home to the Raja Ghepan Temple — a must-visit spot perfect for capturing memorable photographs.
Continuing the drive, we will reach the Keylong/Jispa region, located about 120 km from Manali. This area is rich in Lahaul culture. We will stop for a hot lunch in Patseo and then head to Patseo Ridge for overnight camping in tents, enjoying the serene mountain surroundings.

Today, we begin our journey from Patseo to Bharatpur, driving approximately 5 hours from Keylong to reach Bharatpur, which is situated at an altitude of 4,500 meters. Bharatpur is a beautiful destination with a windy climate, accessible during certain periods of the year.
Along the way, we will make stopovers at Suraj Tal and Deepak Tal, two pristine lakes that are a must-see for every trekker. The purity and serenity of these spots will leave you enchanted.
Another highlight of the drive is Baralacha La, a breathtaking mountain pass that will take your breath away. Take the opportunity to click photos with your buddies to capture these golden memories.
After crossing Baralacha La, we will continue driving and reach Bharatpur by 2 PM. You can explore the area, try some delicious local foods, and visit stores selling trekking equipment and gear. The rest of the day will be spent in Bharatpur, with overnight stay in tents.

On Day 4, you will reach an altitude of approximately 4,600 meters, and you may start experiencing some physical changes such as tiredness, nausea, headaches, or loss of appetite.
This day is designated as an Acclimatization Day to help your body adjust to the thin air and low temperatures. It is essential to consume plenty of fluids throughout the day to reduce fatigue. Additionally, you should engage in light exercises and short walks to keep your body active and properly acclimatized for the upcoming trek.

Water Source: No water source along the track; every participant should carry at least 2 liters of water from Bharatpur Campsite
On Day 5, the challenging part of the trek begins. We will start early in the morning, ready for some adventurous experiences. The trail includes a steep mountain patch with an ascent curve, approximately 4.5 km long, which can be demanding for beginners.
The sedimentary path may cause slipping, so trekkers are advised to wear crampons while crossing this rocky section. Gradually, the trail leads onto snowy patches as you ascend.
Although there is no water along the initial part of the trek, several water points appear along the route, allowing trekkers to refill bottles from streams.
We aim to reach the Summit Base Camp around noon. Upon arrival, enjoy your meals and capture photos with your group. As the summit attempt will begin early the next morning around 4 AM, it is crucial to get a good night’s sleep and rest well.

Water Source: No water source along the route; everyone should carry at least 2 liters of water from Summit Camp
Today is the most challenging day of the trek, spanning approximately 8 hours. Trekkers will face steep climbs over rocky and moraine-covered terrain, much of which is snow-covered, making the ascent physically demanding.
Carry around 5 liters of water in your backpack, as there is only one water point along the route. The cold winds and high altitude can cause fatigue, so it is essential to rest every few hours.
After trekking for about 6 hours, you will encounter another tough snow-covered stretch. Using a harness is necessary to move safely over this section. The final stretch involves a moraine climb leading to the summit.
Reaching the summit of Yunam Peak will feel like being on top of the world. The panoramic views of the Chandra Bhaga and Mulkila ranges are truly breathtaking. Surrounded by snowy peaks and pristine whiteness, every moment at the summit is unforgettable.

On Day 7, we will rest at Summit Base Camp in the morning before beginning the descent to Bharatpur, covering an 8 km mostly rocky trail. Trekkers should carry water from the campsite for the descent.
After reaching Bharatpur, we will embark on a 7–8 hour drive back to Manali, covering approximately 175 km. Upon arrival in Manali by evening (~7 PM), you can plan your onward journey or stay overnight as per your convenience.
